Since 1999, we have been publishing medicines information on behalf of the pharmaceutical industry in the electronic medicines compendium (emc).
Today emc is the UK’s most up-to-date, trusted and accessible source of information about medicines.
Hosting 10,000 medicines, all of which have been checked and approved by either MHRA or EMA, emc provides:
- Improved accessibility
- Trustworthy source for HCPs
- Support when making decisions on prescriptions
- Improved patient adherence, by providing detailed information about medicines, such as its ingredients and side effects
In 2020, some of our key performance stats from emc included:
- 78 million website visitors
- 134 million page views
- 9,700 medical products published
- 1,700 active ingredients
Our mission is to improve the accessibility, effectiveness and excellence of healthcare product information, in fact:
- 97% of UK Healthcare professionals trust emc to give information they can rely on
- 100% of carers and 90% of patients easily find what they are looking for*.
In 2020, our Quality Assurance team also processed:
- 6,851 SmPCs (+6% compared with 2019)
- 1,967 X-PILs
