Datapharm Customer Meeting 2024 roundup: Embrace the grey
Oct 18, 2024
The company welcomed its customers at No.11 Cavendish Square, London on 15 October for its annual customer event, bringing together Pharma professionals in Regulatory Affairs, Medical Information and Commercial for a day packed with industry insights, expert sharings and networking.
Datapharm was delighted to bring its customers together for the Datapharm Customer Meeting 2024. We enjoyed sharings and insights from industry experts as attendees became absorbed in conversation over the use of QR codes for accessing prescribing information and digital solutions for empowering the role of Medical Information.
Amit Aggarwal spoke in a very timely presentation on the update to Clause 12 of the ABPI Code, covering QR codes for prescribing information. His session sparked some lively discussions and these carried on in Jayne Packham’s energetic Code Workshop, which dished out some practical guidance and answered questions on how to interpret the Code in light of the new opportunities for QR codes in digital and printed materials. The key message to Pharma from Jayne was to embrace the grey areas and be bold in order to put this technology to good use.
One of the focal points of interpreting the Code will be (as stated within Clause 12) around how to make the QR code 'clear and prominent' with 'sufficient size and clarity so that it can be scanned easily and positioned for ease of reference'. To learn what this should look like in practice, read our QR codes best practices guide.
In the day’s emc insights session, John Moreland (Product Manager for emc) uncovered the power of understanding website traffic data and the media, taking us back to a news story which influenced the patient journey. For Medical Information professionals, the latter part of the day covered research by Helen Surrey (MILE and Johnson & Johnson) on how healthcare professionals are searching up SRDs to find information that isn’t directly covered within the SmPC, revealing which search terms were most common.
We also heard from Prescribing Pharmacist at Ashburton Prescribing, John Hoyte, on which sources Pharmacists use for online medicines information and the challenges facing this increasingly busy profession.
The final session was an engrossing discussion between Helen Surrey, Michelle Bridenbaker (MILE and Recordati) and Ian Hamilton (Datapharm). The panel discussed how to approach technology when tackling Medical Information processes and put forward their considerations on generative AI.
Through live demo stations, the event also provided a great opportunity for customers to learn about Datapharm’s solutions for online SRD searches and sharing digital prescribing information with HCPs while maintaining compliance.
